London, Feb 9 : 'Valentine's Day' doesn't hit theatres until February 12, but a sequel for the romantic comedy is already in the works.

The follow up of the star-studded new movie, which includes Julia Roberts, Ashton Kutcher, Anne Hathaway, Patrick Dempsey and Jennifer Garner, will be based on another special holiday, New Year's Eve, reports the Daily Star.

According to Variety, producers are so sure of the film's success, they are already plotting their next movie - which will feature some of the same characters in New York City on 31 December.

Director Garry Marshall is expected to return to helm New Year's Eve, which is scheduled for release in late 2011.
